Sunflower Seed Halva – Simply Mouth Watering

Once upon a time… No, it’s not a fairytale. But it tastes like one! Once I heard a great story about a healthy sunflower halva. Sadly, although very delicious it contained far too much sugar and no longer appealed to me. But because I love sunflower seeds so much I could not stop thinking about it and kept dreaming about a healthier version. So here it is. My dreams have come true and I can share them with you!

RECIPE

  • time 30 mins  (15 for prep time and 15 mins for chilling in the fridge)
  • difficulty easy
  • diet no sugar, nuts, dairy, gluten

WHAT YOU NEED

  • 2 cups of sunflower seeds
  • ½ glass of xylitol, alternative is maple syrup (vegan) or honey
  • 4 Medjool dates
  • 2 tbsp of tahini (sesame paste)
  • 1/3 glass of melted coconut oil

METHOD

  1. Roast the sunflower seeds on the frying pan, then put it into the blender
  2. Remove the seeds from dates and add them with tahini into a blender too
  3. Melt xylitol on a frying pan and add together with coconut oil to the rest of the ingredients in the blender
  4. Blend it all to get the smooth paste. You can shape the paste in whatever shape you want and then put into the freezer for 15 mins
  5. Voila!
